Project management
Keys to project success
The three main elements for a successfully delivered project are:
1) On time
On commencement and completion
2) Within budget
At completion
3) Meeting standards and specification
Throughout construction and on completion
To ensure that this return is made to the client on every project, formalised policies and procedures are used, the most critical in relation to the above key elements of delivery.
In our experience, the most significant adverse affects likely to compromise these keys to success are:
- Late decision-making
- Late design
- Changing design due to late decisions
- Lack of site history
Alphega ensures the effective and timely delivery of each project by prompt attention to and control of, the numerous issues which impact on delivery, namely:-
Project on time
- Plan all stages and activities (pre construction to post construction)
- Manage and control (consultants, designers and contractors)
- Fix contractual arrangements
- Design to meet expected climatic conditions during construction
- Innovate construction processes to speed activities
- Procure all elements to final design stage prior to works commencement
Project within budget
- Analyse budgets and revise to ensure that they are realistic
- Target the achievable construction to meet the budget
- Fix designs early to reduce cost through change
- Revise design to meet budget restraints
- Make use of new technological advances in techniques and materials
- Provide an overview (second opinion) to procurement and selection of contractor’s specialists and consultants
Project to quality / specification
- Implement Quality Assurance Plans and Procedures
- Monitor and report findings
- Inspect on site
- Liaise with other inspectors (Building Control, Fire Officers, Clerk of Works)
- Apply and monitor testing procedures
- Provide corrective action advice as required.
